Fishing the Private Waters of Jemas Ranch

Jemas Ranch boasts a large 12 acre lake, a smaller 4 acre lake on the property, and several miles of a natural spring creek that provides blue ribbon dry fly fishing throughout the almost 400 acre guest ranch. The lakes and creek waters are home to Brown trout, Rainbow trout, Cutthroat trout, Brook trout and Tiger trout.

Every overnight guest has the option of starting or finishing out their fly fishing day on our private waters. Some days, the rivers can be tough and you need that boost that only catching trout can give you. We can't guarantee you a trophy trout, but your only competition is our resident bald eagle. You can even spend the day fishing without ever leaving the property.

Private Waters fly fishing lessons

If you’re interested in fly fishing lessons on our lakes or creek, add that to your reservation by calling or emailing. We'll teach you to tie flies and cast and everything else you need to know.

Fishing the Big Lake

Take a guided fishing trip on the big lake and you’re likely to catch that trophy trout! Our lakes are private, with a limited amount of fishing allowed each day. With fewer natural predators and little to no pressure from fisherman, you’ll have a great day on the water.

For fishing the big lake, you’ll have:

  • A drifter boat or raft
  • Same guide as your fly fishing trip if you have one the same day
  • Provided ranch breakfast and cooler lunch
  • Turnkey experience with life jackets, fishing gear, tackle & bait

Fishing the Creeks

Prairie Creek is a beautiful natural creek that meanders through the property. Jemas Ranch has been working with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department to restore this once productive fishery. You can fish both the Upper and the Lower part of the creek. We have a second creek called Grass Creek that should be ready for fishing in 2026.

Vintage Spring Creek Experience

Step back in time into one of our original turn of the century homesteads, a restored building turned log fly stop where plow horses were originally saddled to get ready for plowing. Here, we outfit our equipment and flies for the day and get ready to experience the good ol’ days, fishing smaller technical spring creeks with lightweight 9 ft. 2, 3 and 4 weight vintage reels and rods. Don’t be fooled though, these creeks can hold trout that will challenge the best of anglers on smaller light weight equipment. Available for booking in Spring of 2026.
